Influence of Partially-Covered Riparian Vegetation on Flow in a Compound Channel

Vegetation is of great importance in hydraulic engineering as it can affect the flow structures compound channels many ways, including velocity profiles, momentum exchange, and shear stress distributions. This complex structure vegetated has attracted more research interests. However, most previous studies have been focusing on fully-covered channels, there are little with partially floodplain. carried out novel experiments to investigate partially-covered vegetation The results showed that discharge main channel decreases depth ratio increases. retardation effect non-vegetated floodplain region increasing water depth. In addition, vertical profile zone performs differently various ratios, its taking a maximum around middle-water under emergent cases, while being near free surface submerged cases.
